WAS YOUR CHOICE MADE FROM YOUR EMOTIONS OR YOUR CHARACTER END RESULT?

Benefits of Creating a Character END RESULT

  • Guides students to think and act beyond their emotions so they can make choices from a more reliable place – their character.
  • Helps students with self regulation.
  • Gives teachers a framework for holding students responsible for their choices.
  • Builds emotional well-being, resilience and confidence.
  • Creates commonality – all students are held accountable in the same way making classroom management easier.

So many young people are making choices from their emotions. Their emotions not only feel overwhelming but they can also feel permanent. Emotions are temporary. Choices can be permanent.

Emotions change according to the circumstances your students are facing. Training their brain to make choices from their Character End Result  can be tough because it’s easy to respond out of emotions. It takes effort and consistency to create a habit of making choices beyond emotions.

Success is when students are able to recognize the difference between emotion-based choices and character-based choicesYou will know your students ‘get it’ when they can say: ‘I just made that choice out of RESPECT instead of frustration.’

When choices are made from a Character End Result it’s easier to bounce back from tough emotions and challenging circumstances.
